Loving Life Helps Carlos Quentin Play Better
White Sox right fielder Carlos Quentin was known in professional baseball for his fiercely competitive approach to the game. After a bad play or a strikeout, Quentin was so hard on himself that he would become physically ill and felt little enjoyment while playing. Off the field though, he was described by his coach as “the biggest jokester in the room.”
Quentin made it his goal to achieve greater mental toughness, and to bring his positive, easygoing off-season self into his professional performance. With the help of psychiatrist Dr. Leslie Sherwin, he has made it happen.
